RISING CRIME IN THE YARRA RANGES PUTS RESIDENTS ON HIGH ALERT
Liberal member for Evelyn Christine Fyffe has slammed the Andrews Government after the latest release of Victorian crime statistics revealed that crime has climbed by a staggering 11.3% in the Yarra Ranges.
Between 2014 and 2015 crime in the Yarra Ranges has risen from 7068 incidents to 7867 incidents – that is 800 more crimes under Labor than under the former Coalition Government.
“Crime in Victoria is up by eight per cent which is bad enough but in the Yarra Ranges our crime rate is three per cent above average. That is reason to be concerned,” Mrs Fyffe said.
“Labor has always been soft on crime and this is being reflected in the data.
“Victorians expect their State Government to ensure adequate police numbers on the beat and robust penalties to be enforced by our courts.
“When the government fails to deliver on what is seen as a core responsibility, the people begin to lose faith in the Premier’s leadership.
“The honeymoon period for Daniel Andrews is well and truly over and these statistics are bringing him down to earth with a thud.
