Funding for Men’s Sheds Helps to Build Better Communities

State Member for Evelyn Christine Fyffe is reminding communities across the Yarra Ranges that funding of up to $60,000 is available to build new Men’s Sheds.

Local Governments and not for profit community organisations can now share in $750,000 to help construct new Men’s Sheds in their area.

“Men’s Sheds are a wonderful means through which men can come together, share information and socialise,” Mrs Fyffe said.

“Men’s sheds are like the old shed in your backyard, but they operate with co-ordinators who have technical and social training to promote safe and happy enjoyment of the community space.

“It is a place where you will see older men work alongside younger men sharing skills and wisdom about life.

“The real value of the Men’s Sheds is that they promote positive mental health by encouraging men to freely express themselves in a productive environment,” Mrs Fyffe said.

The latest grant round for Men’s Shed funding runs until the 19th of June.
